Get a GSA Schedule

Contractors typically have two primary options for securing a GSA Schedule: the DIY approach or a turnkey solution. Both methods can be effective, and each has its own set of advantages and drawbacks. Let’s take a closer look at each:

ADVANTAGES

Great option if your budget is limited

Saves you $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 or even $30,000

You have control of all your information

You know exactly where your proposal is in development, review, and award

You learn about GSA's systems in order to upload your proposal and you will build on that knowledge as you manage your contract

You build a relationship with your contract officer/contract specialist

DRAWBACKS

Can be time consuming

You have to create all your own documents

You have to put effort into understanding what GSA requires

You could miss important nuances in your proposal

You have to learn GSA's sytems and upload the proposal

ADVANTAGES

Great option if you have money to spend

Save you time and effort

You don't have to guess what GSA is asking for or requiring

You have confirmation about the SINs under which you are proposing

You have a second opinion about your eligibility for the program

You don't have to create all the  documents

You don't have to learn all of GSA's systems - you only have to learn some of them

DRAWBACKS

It can be expensive

You don't know the status of your proposal as its being written

You may not truly understand what your proposal is communicating

If you don't learn GSA's systems, you may have to expend future funds for assistance

What is the same:

You have to gather the exact same information for DIY as you do for the turnkey.

You have to take the exact same training for DIY as you do for the turnkey.

You need to know and understand your proposal and the commitments you are making.
